The Minister of Communication Abdulraheem A. Shittu disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja at the commissioning of the Infrastructure for Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS), Digital Service Centre Knowledge Acquisition Venue (KAV) in the Office of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF).

The launch of the facilities donated by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) was part of activities marking the 2016 Civil Service Week.

“The ultimate goal is to reduce the cost of governance and enhance the capacity of civil servants to discharge their duties and contribute to national development,” he said.

The minister, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry Architect Sonny Echonu, said it was an opportunity to deepen broadband penetration, enhance security and systematic growth apart from other economic benefit to the country.

The Acting Director General of NITDA Dr. Vincent Olatunji said that no reform will succeed without the involvement of the ICT as it among others make the worker’s discharge of responsibilities easier.

The HCSF Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita said the federal civil service has witnessed unprecedented turn-around through the formulation and implementation of initiatives towards an Efficient Productive Incorruptible and Citizen-Centred (EPIC) Civil Service.

“The knowledge acquisition centre will serve as a centre for transfer of a structured and organised knowledge from experts to non-experts within the federal civil service. It will leverage heavily on human and technology interactions to carefully impact and transfer knowledge,” she said.
She added that the fitness/wellbeing centre (FWC) launched with the digitization was meant to ensure the health and sound mind of workers and that it will be open for workers in the HCSF and from the MDAs at a token.
